Earlier this month, the 50,000 mile bonus offer on the United Explorer Card publicly ended. Reader Solomon sent along two places you can still get the card with 50,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 in the first three months.

Chase issues the United Explorer card and usually lets folks who have applied for a lower offer match to a better public offer. That means that the 50k mile United card offer might be available to everyone.
- Where can you get the United 50,000 mile offer?
- How can anyone possibly be matched to the 50,000 mile offer?
Solomon reported seeing the above kiosk at Newark airport and a similar one at Chicago-O’Hare airport. He didn’t include whether the offer comes with 5,000 bonus miles for adding an authorized user. If it does, those are miles you shouldn’t turn down.
In the past few years, there were often 50,000 mile offers floating around that not everyone could access. The public offer on the United card is 30,000 miles after spending $1,000 in three months.
Dozens of people have personally reported to me that they applied for the 30,000 mile offer (+5k more for an authorized user), sent Chase a Secure Message on chase.com asking to be matched to the 50,000 mile offer, and eventually were credited with 50,000 miles. Some were also matched to the $2,000 spending of the 50,000 mile offer. Some got to keep the lower $1,000 spending of the 30,000 mile offer. They sent messages like this:
“I opened the United Explorer card with the 30,000 bonus after meeting a minimum spending requirement in the first three months. However, I noticed that there was also an offer with a 50,000 bonus with the same minimum spending requirement as I walked through Newark airport. I feel that I was penalized by using the offer that I did – is there any way that you could change my offer, so that I get the 50,000 bonus?”
If you’ve ever sent a Secure Message to Chase about the United Explorer, give us your results in the comments.

i can still get this offer just by logging to my united.com account…
I got the 50,000 mile, $2,000 minimum spend United card last week by applying in person at a Chase branch. The branch manager told me Chase has now rationalized its bonus programs so that all mileage offers will be identical. YMMV, as they say.
If I’ve gotten this offer 6 months ago… is it possible to get it again?
You need to wait 24 months between the bonuses.
Before the official 50K offer was announced, I heard it was available only at Chase bank branch offices. Since I live in Japan, that was a “no go” so when I received the card with the 30K offer, I called them and asked the rep about the 50K offer. She told me it was a targeted offer and so I hung up. I called back and got a friendlier rep this time. I asked him about the 50K offer and he said he would note it on my account and that when I hit $2,000 minimum spend, to call back and they would credit me with the extra 20K. I did just that and they credited me with the full 50K. Good luck!
During that period, a highly similar Secure Message was producing the same results as your second call.
One of the very best ways to earn United Miles, if you like cruising, is to book your cruise through United Luxury Cruises. A cruise in a stateroom with balcony (including French) or above, purchased with the Mileage Plus Explorer card, will earn you 8 pts for every dollar spent: 1x pts when paying for the cruise like any other purchase, and 7x pts when the cruise is completed. Maximum per booking is 250,000 miles, but it takes quite a cruise to get that high. But think of a $6K pp cruise–for two, that means nearly 100K miles., with no foreign transaction fees. And if you use the cruise charges to reach your sign-up bonus, it brings even more.
I received a postcard to log on to UnitedExplorerCard.om/flyUA for the 50,000 mile offer after spending $2000 in 3 months until November 15. It’s only for certain accounts, but it’s worth a try to log-in and see if you can get it!
