Since November, the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® MasterCard® and CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World MasterCard® have each offered 50,000 bonus American Airlines miles after $3,000 in purchases made with your card in the first 3 months the account is open.

Both offers are scheduled to end on Monday, February 29.

Since Monday, the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card has offered 75,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 in the first three months, automatic Hilton Silver status, and no annual fee.

Here’s how to time it to get both the Hilton card and one of the American Airlines cards.

  1. Apply for the American Airlines card you want today. For most people, that will be the personal card, the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® MasterCard®.
  2. In eight days, apply for the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card.
  3. Spend $5,000 on the cards in the next three months ($3k on the AA and $2k on the Hilton).
  4. In about three months, have 53,000+ American Airlines miles and 79,000+ Hilton points.

Why the eight days between applications?

Citi will only approve one card per week. It will also only approve two cards in two months, so if you have applied for another Citi card recently, make sure that card and the second of these applications is at least 65 days apart.

Why the American Airlines card first?

Because it expires Monday. There is no known end date for the 75k Hilton offer, but it should last at least a few weeks.

What are good uses of the miles and points?

Bottom Line

Two great American Airlines offers are ending, and one great Hilton offer just began. You can get an American Airlines and a Hilton card in the next eight days for 125,000 bonus points and miles.
