Mighty Travels interviewed me about miles, travel, and this blog. As usual, I went on and on and on and … 😉
My favorite question and answer:
What is your biggest learning from earning so many miles and points?
The best use of miles is often to give them away.
In 2013, I traveled nine months outside the US to 20+ countries. And yet I had more miles than I could use. I booked four trips for friends that they otherwise couldn’t have taken, in all cases either flying them to visit me or to accompany me on a trip.
The happiness I got from those redemptions exceeded the happiness I got from my Emirates First Class redemption.
Just getting started in the world of points and miles? The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the best card for you to start with.
With a bonus of 60,000 points after $4,000 spend in the first 3 months, 5x points on travel booked through the Chase Travel℠ and 3x points on restaurants, streaming services, and online groceries (excluding Target, Walmart, and wholesale clubs), this card truly cannot be beat for getting started!

This is so true. I feel very fortunate to be one of the people who can play the mileage game well and enjoy all the fabulous travel. But on the other hand, it does feel lonely traveling in premium cabins without a mate. I always think how much more fun it would be to share all the great experiences with someone else. I am hoping that one day I will have a nice boyfriend and take him around the world in first class on Emirates, Singapore, Cathay etc. One can only dream.
I agree with you Lantean. Hopefully you’re not the only one spending miles, but your bf too!
Very true. Thanks for writing this blog and sharing your thoughts with us. If you ever do go to DPRK, I’m willing to tag along your tour group! Flying Air Koryo will definitely be an adventure. In addition to DPRK, I hope to visit Iran someday.
