How does the referral bonus work? How can you refer your friends?

Last week, Starwood emailed card members about a new referral program in which you can earn up to 55,000 bonus Starpoints per calendar year (that I would value at $1,375).

For every approved friend you refer to the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express or Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express, you’ll receive 5,000 bonus Starpoints, up to 55,000 per calendar year.

Referring is easy. Click on the Refer Now buttons in the email and enter the email addresses of people you want to refer. An email will be generated to the people you’re attempting to refer.
