Barclaycard sent me a targeted email because I have The US Airways® Premier World MasterCard®. My email offers me 2 bonus miles (3x total) at gas stations, restaurants, department stores, toy stores, and game stores until December 31, 2014.
Check your email now for the subject line “Three easy ways to earn bonus miles.” In past promotions, US Airways® Premier World MasterCard® cardholders have been offered 2x to 10x bonus miles, so you may have a higher earning rate than me.
- How can you activate the bonus categories?
- What’s the cap on bonus miles earned during the promotion?
- Will the US Airways card crack the Three Cards in My Wallet?
The email sent by Barclaycard has an Activate button. Click it and one more button on the follow up page, and you will get the following confirmation you are enrolled (plus a follow up email.)
According to the terms and conditions, you must activate the offer by October 20 in order to be eligible to earn bonus miles. Bonus miles earned through the promotion will post to your account 6-8 weeks after the promotion ends.
Will I be taking full advantage of this promotion?
I’m limited to 2,500 bonus miles, which means $1,250 in spending will earn me 2,500 bonus miles + 1,250 regular miles for 3,750 miles total. Earning 3x US Airways miles at restaurants and bars will be fantastic and slightly better than the 2x ThankYou Points I always earn on my Citi ThankYou® Premier Card.
In fact, until I spend $1,250 at restaurants and gas stations this quarter on my US Airways® Premier World MasterCard®, it will replace the ThankYou Premier as one of the three cards in my wallet.
Bottom Line
Barclaycard is the best at offering these temporary category bonuses, which it does for several of its popular cards.
I love US Airways Dividend miles because of its off peak awards, generally cheap award chart, great oneworld partners, and agents who will allow almost any routing.
We know that the US Airways® Premier World MasterCard® will no longer be offered as soon as the US Airways and American Airlines frequent flyer programs integrate, some time in early 2015. That means that the chance to earn 40,000 bonus miles after first purchase will disappear soon. Check out all the places you can go with just the sign up bonus. Hopefully it doesn’t mean an end to lucrative promotions like this one.

Coincides with an offer of 15,000 miles after $500/month for 3 months. Should net 20,000 ish miles for $1500 in spend by January.
Sweet!
Any advice on how to get the offer if I wasn’t targeted?
Is there anyway to sign up if you weren’t targeted?
