Someone at the Chicago Seminars (maybe he’ll float through here and claim his hat tip) pointed out that all American Airlines off peak award windows are happening right now!
American Airlines offers discounted economy awards to the regions above on the dates above.
- 17,500 miles one way from North America to Hawaii
- 12,500 to Caribbean and Mexico
- 15,000 to Central America and Northern South America
- 20,000 to Southern South America
- 20,000 to Europe
- 25,000 to Japan and South Korea
The discounts to the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and Northern South America are only valid on American Airlines flights. The discounts to the other regions are available on any partner.
If you look at the date windows for off peak awards, all of them include travel from October 15 to November 14 each year. That means if you can travel quickly, you can have an off peak award to much of the world.
It also means that now must be an off peak time for travel to pretty much the whole world, which means that award space is probably above average on all airlines to all places. That’s great news if you want to go somewhere else or fly Business or First Class.
Here is a post on off peak American Airlines awards.
It’s too late to take advantage of this window of perfect off peak alignment this year if you don’t have American Airlines miles, but you can earn a ton of American Airlines miles quickly for a future trip. For a limited time, the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® offers 75,000 bonus American Airlines miles after spending $7,500 in the first three months. Meeting the spending requirement means 82,500 American Airlines miles or:
- 4 off peak one ways to Hawaii
- 6 to Caribbean and Mexico
- 5 to Central America and Northern South America
- 4 to Southern South America
- 4 to Europe
- 3 to Japan or South Korea

MV,
That was JT from Adventures of JT and Katie (http://jtkatie.blogspot.com/ )
I’m looking for flights to Barcelona and returning from Nice during the first week of May ’16. Plenty of award space available but I can’t seem to find any flights that don’t avoid that damn BA fuel surcharge. I’d like to fly business but two tix add up to over $2k in surcharges which makes it unworthy. Any suggestions?
Ignore the BA results and search AA, airberlin, Finnish, and Iberia space.
