Below are three different transfer bonus opportunities, two of which expire at the end of the day Saturday, and another that lasts through mid May. As is always the case with transfer bonuses, only transfer your points if you have an immediate high value use for British Airways Avios, Etihad Guest Miles, or JetBlue TrueBlue points.
- 35% Transfer Bonus: Hotel Points to British Airways Avios
- 20% Transfer Bonus: Hotel Points to Etihad Guest
- 30% Transfer Bonus: Citi ThankYou Points to JetBlue TrueBlue
35% Bonus When Transferring Hotel Points to British Airways Avios
Lasts through: March 31, 2018
Until the end of the day this Saturday, you can transfer the following hotel points to British Airways Avios and receive a 35% bonus.
Most of the transfer rates are so bad that you shouldn’t even consider it, with the exception of Marriott Hotel + Air Packages. You will earn 35% bonus miles if you purchase Marriott + Hotel Air Package #1 and choose Avios as your reward currency.
The best deal on all Marriott Hotel + Air Packages tends to be 7 Nights in a Category 1-5 Marriott + miles, the top right option in each chart, and that is also true of package #1. With the bonus, you’d get 162,000 Avios and 7 nights in a Category 1-5 Marriott for 270,000 Marriott Rewards. And while SPG is excluded from this hotel point to Avios transfer bonus, you can get around that by transferring 90,000 SPG Points to Marriott first (1 SPG = 3 Marriott Rewards) and then using your Marriott Rewards to book a Hotel + Air Package.
If you’re trying to book travel not too far into the future, take into account that it may take four to six weeks for the bonus Avios to hit your account after you buy the package. Not sure if Avios are useful for the trip you want to plan? Check out this post on maximizing BA Avios to learn more.
20% Transfer Bonus: Hotel Points to Etihad Guest
Lasts through: March 31, 2018
Also until the end of the day this Saturday, you can transfer the following hotel points to Etihad Guest and receive a 20% transfer bonus.
This bonus could be useful if you’re just a few thousand Etihad miles short of a high value redemption reward, or if your hotel points are on the verge of expiration, but otherwise I wouldn’t waste your points. The transfer rates aren’t very good. The Citibank partner listed below only includes Citi points from the UAE.

Unfortunately Marriott and SPG were excluded from this hotel point transfer bonus, which have been the best deals in the past when Etihad has run similar promos.
30% Transfer Bonus: Citi ThankYou Points to JetBlue TrueBlue
Lasts through: May 19, 2018, at 11:59 PM
As the TrueBlue program is revenue based, having an immediate use for TrueBlue points means there’s a cheap JetBlue flight you want to book. The standard transfer rate between ThankYou Points earned by the Citi Prestige or ThankYou Premier is 1,000:800…not so hot. This transfer bonus brings it up to a much better 1,000:1,0040.
If you have ThankYou Points earned by the ThankYou Preferred or Citi Forward Card, then the transfer rate after factoring in the bonus is 1,000:650.
JetBlue points are worth roughly 1.5 cents each toward a ticket. Read this post to learn the basics about JetBlue awards.
The highest value award is for transcontinental Mint Class. For example, you can get a fully flat bed in a fully enclosed Mint Suite for 37,600 TrueBlue points (there are four of them in the front of the plane, first come first serve) between Los Angeles and Boston.
You have some time to decide whether or not this transfer bonus is worth it to you. If you’re planning a trip to somewhere that JetBlue serves, I would check the prices of redeeming TrueBlue points to see if this transfer bonus makes sense for you.
Bottom Line
Check into the following transfer bonuses to see if they could help you save points on upcoming redemptions:
- 35% Transfer Bonus: Hotel Points to British Airways Avios. Lasts through March 31, 2018.
- 20% Transfer Bonus: Hotel Points to Etihad Guest. Lasts through March 31, 2018.
- 30% Transfer Bonus: Citi ThankYou Points to JetBlue TrueBlue. Lasts through May 19, 2018.
