Below is a list of every oneworld alliance flight from Los Angeles flown by British Airways, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, LAN, Iberia, Japan Airlines, and Qantas. I have also included non-oneworld partners on which you can book flights with Avios miles– Alaska Airlines and airberlin. Routes only operated by Alaska or airberlin have an * because they can only be booked over the phone (800-AIRWAYS), which will incur a $25 fee.
The list is divided into International routes, Hawaii routes, and Domestic routes. Within each group, the routes are listed from most Avios required to fewest. For each route the miles listed are for economy/business/first class and are times 1000 for a three-cabin plane. If the route is operated by a two-cabin plane, it’s just economy/business or first, whatever the premium cabin is called.
Routes and classes that use fewer Avios than the number of AAdvantage miles required are in bold. Routes and classes that use more Avios than the number of AAdvantage miles required are crossed out. If Avios equals AAdvantage for that class and route, the route and number of miles are written normally. Of course, bold doesn’t mean the redemption is a good deal. Don’t forget about the crippling fuel surcharges to Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia.

Which credit card redeems avois miles?
Amex? Chase UR?
I can’t seem to make the BA web site go from LAX to ANC or LAX to Sun Valley. I get an error message claiming that “British Airways and its partners do not fly this route”
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to route it as LAX to Seattle to ANC, or LAX to Portland to Sun Valley to get a valid routing? Those seem to price out higher, although I haven’t tried it today.
Those routes are both flown by Alaska, which you can’t book on ba.com. You have to call BA up and pay a $25 phone fee to ticket them.
So my best bet is to search out the flight availability on AA.com and then call BA to book?

Hello,
By any chance have there been any updates to this LAX based list with Avios required for economy/biz/1st with the list that you have provided?
Any new or additional destinations?
Thank You!!!!!
Probably! It would be Herculean to keep it updated, so I haven’t. Check LAX wikipedia page and gcmap.com for the flight distances. Happy travels.
To fly on Cathay from Hong Kong to tokyo, it is 10000 avio miles and one route show connecting in Shanghai. Can I stop over for couple of days in Shanghai?
Avios charges per segment and doesn’t care how long you stop. That means the award routing via Shanghai will cost the same number of Avios whether you stop a few days or not. BUT HKG to PVG to NRT will cost more miles than HKG to NRT directly. See https://milevalu.wpengine.com/how-much-are-avios-worth-the-value-of-british-airways-avios-part-1/
