For bookings made on or after September 15, 2026, Wyndham Rewards award tiers will expand from three tiers to four tiers. Individual properties also may change tiers. New standard Free Nights award rates will be 5,000 points, 15,000 points, 30,000 points and 45,000 points per night (or per bedroom per night). Discounted rates for members who hold Wyndham Rewards credit cards and the points portion of Points + Cash rates also will be adjusted.

With multiple hotel loyalty program devaluations and negative changes over the last few years, it’s become significantly more difficult to find hotel award options that don’t require large point outlays. Booking accommodation at popular leisure travel destinations within the United States is especially challenging for travelers seeking budget-friendly options.

One under-the-radar option to consider is booking Wyndham Rewards Vacation Club properties. Selected properties start at 7,500 points per night for awards booked entirely with points. With a 10% to 25% discount for program members who hold Wyndham co-branded credit cards, these Free Nights start as low as 5,625 points per night.

Wyndham Rewards Overview

Wyndham Rewards is the loyalty program for Wyndham, and the chain has more than 8,400 hotels worldwide. Our focus is the Wyndham Vacation Clubs brand.

Our Wyndham Rewards guide provides more details about the Wyndham portfolio and the Wyndham Rewards program. Some key points are summarized below.

Program Pros and Cons

One of the best features of the Wyndham Rewards program is that it’s relatively straightforward on the redemption side. The program has fixed award rates; there are three property tiers where the standard award rates are 7,500 points, 15,000 points or 30,000 points per night per room (or per bedroom at some properties). These fixed rates provide potential for strong value.

The program often is overlooked or viewed negatively in the points and miles community. Some reasons for this are:

  • Wyndham’s portfolio includes more budget hotels, while the points and miles community tends to focus on opportunities to stay at more luxurious properties.
  • The program’s elite benefits are relatively weak compared to other programs.
  • Wyndham Rewards has a relatively restrictive points expiration policy. For most members, points expire after 18 months of inactivity or on a rolling basis four years after they are earned, regardless of account activity. Points earned by a Wyndham Rewards Earner® Premier cardmember don’t expire as long as the card is open and in good standing.
  • Two recent changes to Wyndham Rewards—ending the ability to redeem Wyndham points for Vacasa Vacation Rental properties and limiting the ability to match Wyndham status to Caesars Rewards status—have reduced the appeal of the program among some points and miles enthusiasts.

Earning Wyndham Points

Similar to other hotel loyalty programs, there are a variety of ways to obtain Wyndham points. Primary methods include:

  • Earning points through hotel stays and other activities
  • Earning points with spending and bonuses on co-branded credit and debit cards
  • Buying points through Wyndham Rewards
  • Transferring flexible currency from multiple programs to Wyndham Rewards

Details are discussed in our program guide.

Using Wyndham Points

There are multiple ways to use Wyndham Rewards points. Similar to other hotel loyalty programs, you can usually get the most value from Wyndham points by redeeming them for hotel stays. That’s our focus, and more details follow, including examples of using points for great value at Vacation Club properties.

Other uses and details about using points at different Wyndham and partner properties are discussed in our program guide.

Wyndham Rewards Points Value

There isn’t a single answer to the question of how much Wyndham Rewards points are worth. As of April 2026, recent estimates for Wyndham Rewards points value converge at around 0.7 cents per point. The value has generally decreased since the end of the Vacasa partnership in 2025. Your personal redemption value may differ depending on how you obtain and use Wyndham points.

Points and miles enthusiasts often determine the value of hotel program points based on using points for hotel stays. The basic calculation expresses value as cents per point (cpp) and involves dividing the cash rate by the points rate and multiplying by 100. For example, assuming a nightly cash rate of $125 pre-tax/$144 including tax and a points rate of 15,000 points, the redemption value is 0.96 cpp (using the post-tax rate in the calculation).

A more detailed version of the calculation includes the value of points earned with paid stays. There are two components:

  • The Wyndham Rewards program gives points to members for paid stays. At most Wyndham properties, base-level (Blue status) Wyndham Rewards members earn 10 points per dollar spent before taxes. Wyndham Rewards members with higher status earn additional points—there’s a 10% bonus for Gold status, a 15% bonus for Platinum status and a 20% bonus for Diamond status. In the example above, for a Blue-level member, stay-based earnings are 10 * 125 = 1,250 points.
  • Paying with a credit card may earn rewards in the form of cash back, Wyndham points or other types of points. The type and number of points earned for paying for a room with a rewards credit card depends on the specific card used. For now, we’ll exclude credit card earnings, but we’ll share an example later that includes them.

The more detailed calculation is $144 / (15,000 + 1,250) * 100 = 0.89 cpp. If we include points earned with credit card payments and/or elite bonus earnings on cash stays, the cpp would decrease.

For decisions about redeeming points, many people establish a threshold value to apply to potential stays or other uses. Using the numbers above, if you value Wyndham points at 0.7 cents per point and have an opportunity to redeem 15,000 points or pay $144, the mathematical answer would be to use points.

Wyndham Vacation Club Overview

Like many other hotel chains, Wyndham has properties that are part of its vacation ownership (aka timeshares) program. Rooms at these properties can be booked like other Wyndham properties. The Vacation Club umbrella encompasses Club Wyndham, WorldMark by Wyndham, Margaritaville Vacation Club and Shell Vacations Club.

Wyndham Vacation Club properties have several characteristics that make them good options for longer stays, family vacations or travelers seeking the conveniences of home. Rooms often provide additional living space and amenities that aren’t available in standard hotel rooms, including kitchens, separate living areas and in-unit washers and dryers. Vacation Club properties often have resort-style amenities and are located in popular vacation destinations.

Changes in earning rates were implemented for Vacation Club stays paid for with Wyndham Rewards co-branded credit cards issued on or after June 17, 2026, which are referred to below as old cards. Rates earned per dollar of spending at Vacation Club properties are:

  • Earner card: 5X points for old cards or 3X points for new cards
  • Earner Plus card: 6X points for old cards or 4X points for new cards
  • Earner Premier card (new card introduced June 17, 2026): 4X points
  • Earner Business card: 8X points for old cards or 5X points for new cards

Award Rates and Search Process

For Wyndham Vacation Club properties, there are three tiers of award rates and two primary options for using points:

  • Free Nights: With this option, members can redeem 7,500, 15,000 or 30,000 points per bedroom per night at a participating property. Holding a Wyndham co-branded credit card provides an additional redemption discount, depending on the card held and when it was obtained, as detailed in our program guide. Discounted rates for cardholders are:
    • 10% discount: 6,750, 13,500 or 27,000 points per bedroom per night
    • 20% discount: 6,000, 12,000 or 24,000 points per bedroom per night
    • 25% discount: 5,625, 11,250 or 22,500 points per bedroom per night
  • Discounted Nights with Points + Cash: With this option, members can redeem 750 to 6,000 points per bedroom to obtain a discounted night at a participating property. These ranges reflect 10% to 20% of the full points rates, and corresponding cash amounts vary based on cash rates for a particular hotel and dates. For tier 1 properties, the points component range is 750 points (10%) to 1,500 points (20%).

One interesting aspect of per-bedroom pricing at Vacation Club properties is that Free Nights rates for studio-type rooms without a separate bedroom are the same as one-bedroom units with a separate bedroom and living area.

Points + Cash redemptions are a hybrid of cash and award rates. They function more like cash rates and allow travelers to reduce the cash outlay using a relatively small number of points. Given the low percentage of points that can be used with Wyndham Points + Cash rates, these awards are probably most applicable for members who have a limited number of points to use and would otherwise pay cash.

You can search for available properties and filter the results by destinations, brands, amenities and/or points required. The criteria displayed below is filtered by brand to show all Wyndham Vacation Club properties.

As of late April 2026, our search results show 163 Vacation Club properties. All but three properties are in the U.S., Canada or Mexico, with almost 93% being in the U.S.

One frustration with searching for points stays on Wyndham’s website is that it doesn’t provide much information when a property isn’t available on selected dates. The website sometimes displays a generic message about a property having a minimum stay requirement when searching for two or more nights but without stating the minimum number of days. Terms for redeeming Free Nights at Vacation Club properties note a minimum stay of two nights, but individual properties can have longer minimum stays or blackout periods. Wyndham also doesn’t provide a calendar tool to find dates with award availability.

Award Tier 1 Vacation Club Properties

Filtering the properties by starting award rates, we found nine properties with standard Free Nights redemption rates of 7,500 points per bedroom per night. The table below identifies these properties and their locations.

Club Wyndham PagosaPagosa SpringsColorado

Club Wyndham Palm-AireNorth Pompano BeachFlorida
Club Wyndham Sea GardensPompano BeachFlorida
Club Wyndham Desert Rose ResortLas VegasNevada

These properties include a mix of destinations that suit a variety of personal interests. There are options for travelers interested in visiting theme parks (Anaheim for Disneyland and other Southern California theme parks or Kissimmee for Walt Disney World and other Orlando area parks), experiencing Las Vegas, spending time at the beach, playing golf, skiing or participating in other outdoor activities.

Our approach to choosing examples involved somewhat randomly selecting properties and dates. We didn’t cherry-pick dates to find high or low cash rates. We sought a middle ground of desirable (but not peak) times for selected properties. We avoided dates with major holidays or special events because these days could have high cash prices, be blacked out for awards and/or not have availability for cash or award stays. We also didn’t pick dates that would be undesirable to many travelers due to weather.

Award Example 1: Club Wyndham Cypress Palms

We looked at Club Wyndham Cypress Palms in Kissimmee, Florida, for a five-night stay in January 2027. There are no resort fees at this hotel, and total taxes are 13.5% on cash rates and the cash portion of Points + Cash rates.

As shown below, Free Nights and Points + Cash awards are available for a one-bedroom unit:

  • Standard Free Nights awards are 7,500 points per night or 37,500 points total for five nights. With a 10% / 20% / 50% Wyndham cardholder discount, the five-night total is 33,750 / 30,000 / 28,125 points.
  • The Points + Cash option uses 1,500 points (20% of the Free Nights rate). With a cash co-payment of $135.85 pre-tax, the total including taxes for five nights is 7,500 points and $770.95.
club wyndham cypress palms

The lowest refundable cash rate for the same dates is a Wyndham Rewards member discounted rate that is the same amount as the nonrefundable rate. The pre-tax rate each night is $156.75, and with 13.5% tax, the total cost is $889.55 for five nights.

Even without doing detailed math, it’s apparent that:

  • Using a total of 37,500 or fewer points for five nights instead of spending almost $900 is a great use of Wyndham points.
  • Using a total of 7,500 points to save almost $120 through Points + Cash rates is a good use of Wyndham points.

Club Wyndham Cypress Palms Free Nights Redemption Value

Let’s take a closer look at the value when using Wyndham points for Free Nights awards. As noted above, the more precise (and conservative) calculation includes taxes and fees where applicable and points earned on paid stays. Value is measured in cents per point, which is calculated as:

Cents per point = Cash rate including taxes / (points required for redemption + points earned when paying cash) * 100

Points earned on eligible cash rates have two components: points awarded by Wyndham for the hotel room rate (generally excluding taxes and fees) and rewards earned for paying with a credit card. The former varies based on elite level, and the latter varies depending on what credit card is used for payment.

Let’s look at the value of using points in two scenarios to show the differences between base-level (Blue) Wyndham Rewards members without any Wyndham credit cards and a Gold elite member who holds the entry-level Wyndham Rewards Earner credit card. Inputs are:

  • First calculation: The member has Blue status, and the standard Free Nights rate applies. Payment is with a 2% cashback card, and credit card points are worth 3X Wyndham points per dollar (a 2% cashback rate translates to 3X Wyndham points assuming a 0.67 cpp value for Wyndham points).
  • Second calculation: The member holds the Wyndham Rewards Earner credit card (the card provides Gold status and a 10% redemption discount) and pays with this credit card. (As discussed above, cards issued before June 17, 2026 earn 5X points per dollar spent on most Wyndham stays including Vacation Club properties, but Earner cards issued on or after this date earn 3X points per dollar on Vacation Club properties.)

Calculated redemption values are:

  • Standard Free Nights award: $890 / (37,500 + 10 * $784 + 3* $890) = 1.85 cpp
  • Earner cardholder discounted Free Nights award (with 5X earning rate): $890 / (33,750 + 11 * $784 + 5 * $890) = 1.9 cpp
  • Earner cardholder discounted Free Nights award (with 3X earning rate): $890 / (33,750 + 11 * $784 + 3 * $890) = 2 cpp

These redemption values are more than 2.5 times the 0.7 cpp that is commonly considered to be the average value of Wyndham points.

Given the strong value when redeeming points for Free Nights awards, it would make sense to buy Wyndham points to book Free Nights. Even at the regular points purchase rate, this option provides clear value because you can buy points at 1.3 cents each and use them at 1.85 cents each. It’s an even better deal for Wyndham Rewards Earner cardholders, who get at least a 15% discount when buying points and a 10% to 25% discount on Free Nights redemptions.

The value of transferring points to Wyndham Rewards depends on the transfer ratio and personal valuation for relevant flexible currency program points.

  • Wells Fargo: Wells Fargo currently has the best transfer ratio at 1:2, so 1,000 Wells Fargo points become 2,000 Wyndham points. This provides a value of 3.7 to 3.8 cents per Wells Fargo point, which is fantastic.
  • Other flexible currency programs: Current transfer ratios for other programs are 1:1. At this ratio, with an estimated redemption value of 1.85 or 1.9 cpp, many points and miles enthusiasts would transfer points to Wyndham. But individuals seeking a flexible points redemption value of at least 2 cpp might not transfer points since the Wyndham redemption value is just under this threshold.

Club Wyndham Cypress Palms Points + Cash Redemption Value

Points + Cash awards allow members to use a relatively small number of points to reduce their cash outlay. The approach to determining whether it makes sense to book a Points + Cash rate is simpler than calculating the Free Nights redemption value. Members can assess how much cash is saved and divide that by the points used to determine the value obtained for using those points. In this case, the calculation is: ($890 [cash rate with tax] – $771 [Points + Cash rate with tax]) / 7,500 [total points used] *100 = 1.58 cpp.

While this provides good redemption value, most points and miles enthusiasts would prefer getting strong value on more Wyndham points with the Free Nights award.

Award Example 2: Club Wyndham Legacy Golf Resort

The second example is for the Club Wyndham Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, Arizona, for a three-night long weekend in November. This property doesn’t have resort fees, and total taxes are 12.57% on cash rates and the cash portion of Points + Cash rates.

This situation has several differences from the previous example:

  • Both studio and one-bedroom condominium units are available: Free Nights rates are the same for the two room types, but Points + Cash and full cash rates are higher for the one-bedroom room type. This represents an advantage for using Free Nights.
  • Points + Cash and cash rates aren’t the same for each night of the stay: The rates shown in the initial search results represent the average pre-tax rate. The first night is Thursday and is less expensive than Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Multiple Points + Cash options are available: These rates fall into the range noted in the program terms and represent 10%, 13.3% and 20% of the Free Nights standard rates.
  • The gap between the cash-only rate and the cash portion of Points + Cash rate is larger: In the previous example, the post-tax difference per night is $24, and the Points + Cash rate is 87% of the full cash rate. In this example, the average post-tax difference per night is $50 (studio) or $60 (one-bedroom), and in both cases, the Points + Cash cash portion is 76% of the full cash rate.

Free Nights and Points + Cash rates for studios and one-bedroom room types are shown below.

club wyndham legacy golf resort

Cash rates for the two room types follow. We’re using the refundable Wyndham Rewards Members rate for calculations.

Club Wyndham Legacy Golf Resort Free Nights Redemption Value

The value of using Wyndham Free Nights awards is even better than the previous example. This is expected because average room rates are higher than the previous example and Free Nights rates are the same.

Using the same approach discussed above, we calculated the value of Free Nights awards for each room type for Wyndham Rewards members who hold and don’t hold an Earner credit card. Cardholder discount calculations are based on using a card that provides a 10% redemption discount and earns 5X points per dollar. Results are:

  • Studio standard redemption: 2.12 cpp
  • Studio cardholder discount redemption: 2.15 cpp
  • One-bedroom standard redemption: 2.416 cpp
  • One-bedroom cardholder discount redemption: 2.420 cpp

The value of using Wyndham points is so high that for most travelers it makes sense to buy or transfer points to Wyndham Rewards to use for this stay.

Club Wyndham Legacy Golf Resort Points + Cash Redemption Value

Using the same approach as above and choosing to redeem 1,500 points per night, the value of the points redeemed is 3.34 cents per point for the studio and 3.99 cents per point for the one-bedroom room type. The cpp value is higher compared to the Free Nights award and the Points + Cash value for the first example. This likely is due to the larger gap between the full cash rates and the cash portion of the Points + Cash rate compared to the first example.

Despite the fantastic value on a small number of points with Points + Cash awards, most points and miles enthusiasts would choose to redeem points for the full stay.

Award Tiers 2 and 3 Vacation Club Properties

If you’re willing to consider the next tier of properties where Free Nights standard redemptions start at 15,000 points per night (11,250 to 13,500 with a Wyndham credit card), many more properties are available. Our search identified 116 properties in this tier.

Depending on cash rates, these properties may provide good value. As a quick check, you can multiply the points rate and your minimum value for using Wyndham points (in dollars). For example, if the redemption rate is 15,000 points and your minimum value for using points is 0.7 cents per point, or $0.007 each, the result is $105.

Using the more precise calculation discussed above will alter these amounts. For example, a pre-tax rate of $100 per night with 15% taxes for a total of $115 for a standard redemption (15,000 points) results in a valuation of 0.7 cpp.

For points maximizers seeking 1 cpp or 1.5 cpp:

  • Quick calculations provide breakeven cash rates of $150 (1 cpp) or $225 (1.5 cpp).
  • With the more precise calculations (assuming 15% taxes), pre-tax/post-tax cash rates of approximately $148/$170 or $238/$274 are the breakeven points compared to redeeming 15,000 points.

Tier 3—where Free Nights standard rates start at 30,000 points per night and discounted rates with a Wyndham credit card start at 22,500 to 27,000 points per night—currently has 38 properties. It might be worthwhile to book these with points in some situations. The higher redemption rates may work for more expensive destinations, especially on dates where cash rates are high.

We calculated breakeven cash rates at different point valuations using the same two methods:

  • Quick calculations for 30,000-point properties are $210 (0.7 cpp), $300 (1 cpp) or $450 (1.5 cpp).
  • Using the more precise calculations and assuming 15% taxes, the breakeven points for redeeming 30,000 points are pre-tax/post-tax cash rates of approximately $199/$229 at 0.7 cpp, $296/$340 at 1 cpp or $475/$546 at 1.5 cpp.

Final Thoughts

Wyndham Rewards fixed award rates provide opportunities for outsized value when redeeming points. The two examples represent strong redemption opportunities at tier 1 Wyndham Vacation Club properties.

More generally, it’s worth redeeming 5,625, 6,000 or 6,750 points (discounted rates for Wyndham cardholders) or 7,500 points (standard rate for other Wyndham Rewards members) even when cash rates are relatively low. Using the quick calculation method discussed above, cash rates that might warrant redeeming standard Free Nights awards at 7,500 points per night assuming different minimum redemption values are:

  • 0.7 cpp: $53
  • 1 cpp: $75
  • 1.5 cpp: $113

You can customize the approaches and calculations we shared to incorporate your preferred inputs.

If the limited tier 1 Wyndham Vacation Club properties don’t fit into your travel plans, there are other options:

  • Wyndham Hotels & Resorts rates also start at 7,500 (or fewer with a credit card) points per night , and tier 1 properties in other brands might provide options that offer strong redemption value.
  • Wyndham Vacation Club properties in tiers 2 and 3 provide significantly more location and property options for travelers who are comfortable using more points to stay at them.
