A Russian airline’s A321 has crashed shortly after taking off from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, killing 224 onboard. (The airline’s name is variously given as Kogalymavia or Metrojet. I had never heard of it until today.)
A local ISIS chapter has claimed responsibility, but investigators are calling the cause a “technical fault.” I’m sure this thread will see a lot of follow up in the coming days.
Safe travels!

A Stinger IFF unit would halt any attempt to lock on and fire upon an aircraft. Also a Stinger is a low altitude, line of site air defense weapon. Supposedly, the airplane wasn’t flying low. Rumors are the Russians previously took down a civilian aircraft with a air defense missile, except the ground system IFF was off.
IMHO, either a bomb was smuggle on-board by airport workers or one or more terrorists with explosives got pass security and committed suicide.
We will find out and doesn’t matter why matters it came down and travelers lives were lost . BEWARE where you travel and the risks before going (look @ TPG post on airlines yesterday) . My hotel in Nice Fr. one person took out 3 cops .
BE CAREFULL
