I had a client contact me wanting to get to the Seychelles with United miles next year. Good thing she didn’t contact me next week when United miles will only have one option to the Seychelles.

The ability to book on Qatar with United miles ends Friday, 9/14/12. (Qatar cannot be booked with US Airways miles presently.)

I was worried over the weekend that United had prematurely pulled Qatar space. That turned out to be a false alarm, but I have noticed that there is more phantom space being displayed on united.com for Qatar space than their usually is.

If you have to call United to book space, the agent may tell you that Qatar space cannot be booked anymore or that she can only book flights that depart by 9/14. This is due to a memo sent to some United agents. Don’t bother arguing that she is wrong. Hang up; call back.

The real rule is that you have to book by 9/14. (What time on 9/14? Who knows?) The Qatar flights can be as far into the future as normally allowable–about 11 months.

Read last week’s post for more info on this very bad news, and book by Friday.
