Update at 10:30 PM ET: These packages are all still for sale. None sold out.
Today is the second day of the last week of five weeks of discounted travel packages sponsored by the US Travel Association and American Express called Daily Getaways.
Every weekday at 1 PM ET, a discounted travel package or packages will go on sale and will sell out in a few minutes. Some of the offers will be awesome; some will be duds.
Today’s deal is discounted Hilton HHonors points in 100k, 150k, and 250k packages.
How can you get the deal?
All Daily Getaways packages are discounted. And you get an additional 10% off each sale price by paying with an American Express, so that’s a no-brainer, and I’ll always quote prices after the American Express discount.
Prices today are:
- 1ook Hilton points for $495, 0.495 cents per point, 160 packages available
- 15ok Hilton points for $742.50, 0.495 cents per point, 200 packages available
- 15k Hilton points for $648, 0.495 cents per point, 200 packages available
You can buy a maximum of one package of each size per Hilton account number.
“Upon purchase, please allow 3-4 weeks for HHonors Bonus Points to be posted to the member’s account provided at time of purchase. ”
Here’s Hilton’s award chart:
Here’s a link to Hilton hotels by category.
Hilton’s AXON award prices are pretty miserable since their recent devaluation.
I am definitely going to sit out this Daily Getaways Deal since I value Hilton points at maybe 0.3 cents. But there could definitely be value if your very idiosyncratic future hotel plans match up with a rare sweet spot on the Hilton chart.
Purchasing the Packages
To maximize your chances of getting in on the deal, I recommend using a site like whattimeisit.com to figure out the official time. This week’s sales have all started on time to the second. Keep refreshing for the best chance.
This is what happens if you try to purchase something where all quantities are already in someone’s cart.
This doesn’t mean the deal is sold out. If someone doesn’t complete his purchase, that quantity will immediately become available for someone else. Keep checking until the dreaded “Sold Out” appears.
I will be by my computer at 1 PM EST / 10 AM PST / 7 AM HST / (2 PM in Buenos Aires) to check out how these two deals are selling. Do you plan to buy them? Post your successful or failed attempt in the comments, so we can gauge how quick you had to be to snag a card.

I might get 100000 points and just stay at a 5000 point property for 20 days. Lots of interesting ones in Asia and Europe
@ Drew B,
Wow, really? I didn’t know Hilton actually had 5000 point properties. Can you name some of the cities? TIA
@Drew B, I think you have another hotel program mixed up. I think you’re talking about IHG’s PointBreaks list. I just looked at a ton of Hilton properties (yes I have a lot of time on my hands) and there is nothing close to a 5000 point property.

I love how you immediately say “no thanks” in the title. lmao. I feel bad for Hilton.
Gotta check the HHonors program guys. Categories range from 1-10 with category 1 being 5000 points a night and 10’s 100,000. For example, i could book a 2 week stay in the pretty cool looking Batang Ai Longhouse Resort in Malaysia for only 70,000 points. At the point sale price that would mean the stay would cost me about 350 out of pocket. If i was to pay the BRG right now that same stay would cost well over 1000 dollars. Lots of cool properties in Categorie one guys. The award chart and link to properties in even in this post. Just look up ^
Im getting this deal, i think its got great uses.
@ Drew B, Very good find for Malaysia! anything else?
Who can say this wouldnt be an awesome place to stay for 5000 points a night? 🙂

That lobby looks epically amazing
Cancel the above, looks like it got revalued to 30k a night…sad. Still have some nice ones though if you search the chart
Agreed. At 0.5 cents a piece, it is too expensive. I looked through the list of Cat 1’s and it didn’t notice anything enticing. Certainly nothing worth planning a trip around. There were some useful Cat 2 hotels around a few airports and a Cat 3 at Narita.
Not necessarily anything worth planning a trip around, but for the most part i think of hotels as a place to stay, not an aspirational award. Especially with the Hilton chart, its value now lies in cheap but nice accommodations. For instance, i would be hard pressed to find another way to stay for 3 weeks in Beijing for 24.95 a day, even if its just a mid level hotel like a Doubletree. Especially since its listing for over 200 a night with cash.
it’s after 4 pm et and most packages are still available… hardly anything was sold… dear hilton, get a clue…
a week a after the buy-o-rama there is a reason these are still on the dis-honor roll:
