Avianca Brazil (formerly Ocean Air) has joined Star Alliance, and its award space is already searchable on aeroplan.com and bookable with Star Alliance miles.
This is great news for people with United miles, LifeMiles, Singapore miles, Air Canada miles, and Lufthansa miles who want to fly to Brazil because Avianca Brazil has a huge route network.
Where Avianca Brazil Flies
Avianca Brazil has hubs in Sao Paulo (GRU) and Brasilia (BSB) and flies to a few dozen destinations in Brazil. Its only international route is Fortaleza to Bogota, Colombia.
Where to Search Avianca Brazil Flights
You can search Avianca award space on aeroplan.com. Here’s how. Any award space you find on aeroplan.com is bookable with any type of Star Alliance miles by calling the airline whose miles you want to use.
On aeroplan.com, the airline is listed by its code “O6.”
Avianca flights do not have fuel surcharges, so the awards should be surcharge-free with all miles.
Expect taxes of about $10 per segment.
I found good award space in economy on all the routes I checked including Fortaleza to Bogota. I didn’t see Business Class award space.
