Considering I value Virgin America Elevate miles more than any other mile at 2.3 cents each, signing up for both of these emails is a no brainer. Even if you don’t use them they will eventually turn into Alaska miles because Alaska Airlines bought Virgin America. Need another reason? It will keep any old miles that have been sitting in your Elevate account from expiring.

If I don’t actually fly VA, can I exchange these points into another program via points.com, or are there Elevate restrictions on exchanging points that weren’t earned via butt-in-seat?

Correct, but you can get 500 for signing up for each– for a total of 1,000. They are separate promotions.
