It’s the third week of discounted travel packages from the US Travel Association called Daily Getaways. Every weekday at 1 PM ET, a discounted travel package or packages will go on sale and will often sell out in a few minutes.
Today only, starting at 1 PM ET, you can purchase a one-day Avis car rental for $30.
If you’re planning a vacation to a place with an especially expensive rental car market, like Hawaii, this deal could save you hundreds.
Validity: The certificate is “valid at any participating Avis location in the U.S. (excluding the New York Metro area), Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.” You also must make reservations 24 hours in advance.
Expiration: You must use the certificate(s) by May 15, 2018.
Maximum Purchase: Seven one-day rental certificates is the maximum you can purchase. You can use up to seven one-day rental certificates on a single rental.
I want to use these on an impending vacation…how long will it take the certificates to arrive? You should receive the certificate(s) via U.S. mail within 10 business days.
Hidden Savings: Rental certificates like this are extra awesome because they mean that you don’t have to pay percentage taxes on your car rental, though you do have to pay flat fee taxes like “facility charges.” Scott redeemed similar certificates bought through Daily Getaways a few years ago for a discount off of an Alamo rental car. The best part about the gift certificates was that they dropped the base price, which dropped the variable in taxes (a whopping 23.2% of the cost) and fees significantly, saving him way more money than expected.
The Other Avis Deal Today
The $30 a day rental coupons are not the only thing on sale from Avis today. You can also purchase a $750 President’s Club Membership… but if you use Avis enough to get use out of this, you should already have this status. This is our general theory on status, which is why I don’t buy it outright or through mileage runs.
The Avis deals go on sale at 1 PM ET Today, so be ready if you want to snag it!
what kind of car do these certs entitle you to?
Compact, mid, standard, full, premium?
Thanks
From the terms & conditions: “Coupon certificate entitles the intended recipient to one (1) day’s daily time and mileage charges of any car-class up to a Premium (group G) car. Specialty car classes such as H, F, W, Z, L, V, P, K, X (Cool Cars), and S are excluded.”
Unfortunately this deal is already sold out.
