Let’s talk about how to use American Airlines miles for awards to Africa.

The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite™ MasterCard® 60,000 mile offer has expired.

Travel from San Francisco, Washington DC, Cleveland, Houston, Denver, and New York to Zurich, Switzerland; or Frankfurt, Germany for $414+ in American Airlines economy. Most of the availability for these deals is between September 2016 and April 2017.

We have seen a lot of changes lately to American Airlines' frequent flyer program AAdvantage, like:

About the same time we were informed of these things (late 2015), American Airlines also announced changes in the structure of how we earn miles that were planned to take affect in the second half of 2016.

American Airlines is offering up to 15,000 bonus miles and 35% off on the purchase of miles through June 1, 2016. You can now buy 165,000 American Airlines miles including bonus for $3,122 or 1.89 cents each.

The discount is fixed, but the bonus miles are tiered, based on how many miles you purchase.

Today (May 11, 2016) is the last day to take advantage of the 30% discount on Virgin Atlantic economy awards that brings the price of an award between select U.S cities and London down to only 12,250 Virgin Atlantic miles and $134.60 in taxes and fuel surcharges.
