Digital Priority Pass Card: Who Can Get it & How

The Priority Pass membership is a standard perk these days for premium credit cards. It grants you access to Priority Pass' network of lounges (and even some restaurants, where you get a free set tab) located all over the world. Not all Priority Pass lounges are created equal, but thanks to sites like Lounge Buddy you can vet a lounge before travel.

Priority Pass memberships (with varying levels of free access) come with all the following credit cards:

Chase Sapphire Reserve
Citi Prestige
American Express Platinum
American Express Business Platinum
Chase Ritz-Carlton Card

Product Changing From An Expensive Annual Fee Card

The Chase Sapphire Reserve, the Citi Prestige, and the Amex Platinum card are premium credit cards with huge benefits and huge annual fees to match: $450.

The first year, these are fantastic cards. The second year, the value is less certain. We'll look at canceling and downgrading options in this post.

The First Year

Many people are scared off by that annual fee, which makes sense at a superficial level. We all got interested in miles and points to save money, not spend it. I was afraid of premium cards when I first jumped in the game.

What to Do With Leftover ThankYou Points if Canceling Prestige or Premier

Citi issues lots of cards that earn ThankYou Points, but not all of them earn a type of Thank You Point that can be transferred to airline and hotel loyalty programs partners like the Citi Prestige and Premier cards do.

I’ve Had My Citi Prestige For Almost a Year. Now What?

About a year ago I excitedly opened a Citi Prestige card, ready for my 50,000 ThankYou point bonus and lounge access, among other things. Since the, the bonus has dropped to 40,000 ThankYou Points, but considering the myriad of other benefits the card maintained, it's still worth getting if you haven't had it yet. Read our full review of the Citi Prestige.

11 months into holding any card that's got an annual fee, I do a cost/benefit analysis to figure out if I'm getting enough value from the card to keep it open.

Today (7/19) at 5 PM ET, the Citi Prestige® Card‘s current sign-up offer is changing. I do not know what the future offer will be, but I don’t think this is good news. When we got the same news about the Citi ThankYou Premier in January, its sign up bonus went from 50,000 points to zero.
