Best Ways to Book Delta Flights with Chase Ultimate Rewards

You might have noticed that the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card or the Chase Sapphire Reserve get recommended a lot in the points and miles community. There’s a good reason for that.

Rewards earned with these cards can be transferred to a number of airline and hotel loyalty programs, making it possible to book all kinds of travel for free (or almost free).

If you’re a Delta Air Lines flyer, you might think the cards offer little value to you because Chase doesn’t partner with Delta SkyMiles. However, don’t dismiss the Sapphire-branded cards so quickly.

5 Business-Class Award Flights You Can Book Using American Express Gold Card’s Elevated Welcome Bonus

The American Express® Gold Card, with its high reward rate in certain spending categories, is one of the best rewards cards to hold for dining and travel lovers.

The card’s elevated welcome bonus is enough to book a flight in business class on multiple airlines.

American Express Adds More Temporary Credits

Since the start of the pandemic, American Express has been quite proactive in adding non-travel benefits to its impressive lineup of credit cards. We’ve seen streaming services, shipping and dining credits, and more in 2020.

But for customers who still aren’t traveling much and aren’t taking advantage of all the travel-related benefits offered by the cards in their portfolio in 2021, Amex wants to make sure you still have a reason to use their products for your everyday spending.

Anatomy of an Award: 45k Virgin Atlantic Miles for Delta One to Argentina

In May I flew from Atlanta to Buenos Aires in Delta One, and only had to spend 45,000 Ultimate Rewards--transferred to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club-- to do so.

Atlanta Delta SkyClub, Concourse F

A couple weeks ago, I booked a one-way Delta One flight between Atlanta and Buenos Aires for 45,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles (and just $5.60 in taxes). I was pretty dang excited about the ability to do this, as it was my previous assumption that Flying Club awards flying partner airlines--at least Delta specifically--needed to be booked roundtrip. That is not the case.

12k Delta Miles Roundtrip to Mexico Instead of 35k

Delta has put many routes between the US and Mexico on "sale" right now. I say "sale" because Delta doesn't have a published award chart anymore, but we know from charts maintained by people like us online that the standard lowest level US > Mexico award price is 17,500 Delta miles one way. Right now many routes are only 12,000 SkyMiles roundtrip.

New Amex Offers: 20k points for $1k Spend with Air France or KLM

American Express is offering some lucrative incentives to spend on their cards right now. Not everyone will have these Amex Offers available as they are targeted.

Targeted Promotion: 10% Off Delta Awards (up to 100k Off)

Delta SkyMiles is offering a 10% rebate on awards booked by May 13th, for travel between the dates of August 14 and November 14, 2018. The maximum amount of miles you'll get back is 100,000.

This offer is not available to everyone. Check here to see if you were targeted.

To be clear, you must have the total amount of miles required to book the award. Rebate will apply to entire amount of miles redeemed, even if there are others aside from you on the reservation.

Limited Time: 60k Gold & 70k Platinum Delta Offers. Which is Better?

I'm bumping this post up to the top of the blog roll as a reminder that these elevated 60k and 70k bonus offers for the Delta Gold and Platinum Amex cards are ending April 11, 2018 (this coming Wednesday). If you want to apply, do so before midnight tonight!

Until April 11, 2018, the Gold Delta Card is offering 50,000 bonus Delta miles after you spend $2,000 in your first three months, plus an additional 10,000 bonus miles for spending another $1,000 in within the first six months.
