United, American, Delta, and Southwest are all offering bonuses for shopping through their portals. The bonuses are in addition to what you'd already be earning by shopping through the portal. Shopping portals allow you to earn miles by making your normal online purchases through your favorite online stores. Just by starting at the loyalty program’s portal and using its link to your favorite online retailer, you can get extra miles for your purchases.

With each back to school promotion, the more you spend, the higher your return is.

It only costs 40,000 United miles to fly Thai Airways First Class between South Asia and Australia/New Zealand. A flight between Bangkok and Sydney is nine hours long. 40k is an incredible price for the travel time and quality of the product.

Sadly on November 1 of this year, the price will increase to 65,000 miles. That is not an unreasonable price, but the award will certainly lose its sweetspot status. The devaluation of this international award is not the only change we'll see to MileagePlus this fall.

United Airlines is offering roundtrip economy flights starting at $362 from various cities on the west coast to Honolulu, Maui, and Kona. Available travel dates span all the way from September through May of 2018.
