The Five Chase Cards to Apply for if You’re a Points Omnivore

In the context of food, an omnivore eats all types of energy sources: animals and plants, and even algae, fungi, and bacteria. In the context of travel rewards, a points omnivore collects any mile or point they can to get more travel. Their motto is a dollar saved is a dollar saved.

This post is for all my points omnivores out there and particularly for those who strive to be one and are just starting to collect rewards cards.

Deciding What to Do With an Arrival Plus Card One Year In

I opened a Barclaycard Arrival Plus Card a little over a year ago, which meant that I was recently faced with the decision everyone should consider a year into holding a card that charges an annual fee: Is is worth keeping another year?

Leaving annual fee cards open year on end without considering if they're worth it is a mistake that will suck all the value out of your rewards fast. Don't let that happen to you.

40% Membership Rewards to Avios Transfer Bonus

Through November 15 you'll earn 40% bonus points when you transfer Membership Rewards to either British Airways or Iberia Avios.

That means 1,000 Membership Rewards = 1,400 Avios.

This deal typically comes around once a year and presents an excellent opportunity to save points on awards in and between various parts of the world.

The Five Chase Cards You Should Apply For: Combo #3

Once you’ve opened five credit cards from any bank in the last 24 months (not counting most business cards), Chase will likely deny you for all of their travel rewards credit cards.

I’m Back! Preview of Tuscany Trip Report

Hey everyone! It's been a while since you've heard from me as I just took a three week trip in Italy with my parents and boyfriend.

Below is a little taste of what my September looked like.

Our first destination was Fatorria di Maino, a hotel on an olive oil farm in the hills overlooking Florence.

Sale on New Direct Singapore Awards: The World’s Longest Flight!

If you book by September 30, 2018 for travel dates no later than November 30, you can try out some of the world's longest flights, on Singapore Airlines nonetheless, for big discounts. Singapore Krisflyer is promoting the airline's newest routes between Singapore and the United States with a sale on premium economy and Business award prices.

This is exciting because Singapore offers one of the best products in the sky and you probably already have access to Singapore miles via any of the major transferrable point types.

The Five Chase Cards You Should Apply For: Combo #2

5/24 is a buzzword in the miles and points sphere. It refers to the fact that Chase will cut you off from eligibility for their credit cards once you’ve opened five credit cards from any bank in the last 24 months (not counting most business cards).

United Business Class to Australia Widely Available Early Aussie Winter

The cheapest level of Business Class award space on United--that is also the only kind of award space bookable with partner miles--is pretty wide open in the early winter months of Australia's winter, which is early summer in the United States. May and June 2019 have the most days available, and with a few scattered seats open in April, July, and August. All beds are fully lie-flat.

This is news because it's not common to see this many Business Class award seats open to Australia, a notoriously hard destination to get to with miles.
