Delta Awards as Low as 5,000 Miles One Way for Summer and Fall Travel

Delta is advertising a fare sale for travel from August 6 to December 16, and, in a first, is advertising a concurrent sale on the award prices on the same routes.

There are 29 listed sale routes.

When 5,000 mile awards started in May, I wrote that this was mixed news:

Good: Some awards are 60% cheaper, and hopefully more routes with 5,000 mile award space are added.
Bad: By picking 5k routes on cheapness not distance, Delta is taking a step away from award charts (which it deleted from the internet already) and toward revenue-based redemptions.

Everything You Need to Know about Discounted British Airways Avios Off Peak Awards

I'm on record saying that I don't think the British Airways devaluation from last month is a big deal. Only Business and First Class awards went up in price, and the vast majority of good Avios redemptions are short, direct, economy awards.

Well there's another good part of the "devaluation" that I haven't covered yet: the introduction of cheaper off peak awards on British Airways and Iberia flights. Here's the new award chart that shows off peak award prices next to peak award prices.

Off peak awards are only possible on British Airways and Iberia flights.

While off peak awards are often less desirable dates, there are some off peak dates that are actually my favorite times to visit a country.

United Announces Off Peak Awards to Europe for 48,000 Miles Roundtrip (20% Off)

United has announced a 20% discount on economy class awards from the US to Europe:

will cost only 48k miles roundtrip, a 20% discount on the normal 60k price.

United ran a nearly identical promotion last year, so maybe this is becoming a yearly occurrence.

I know many of us are trying to burn United miles because of its recent devaluation, so this promotion might be a good way to see
