Status Update on Marriott & SPG Merger

As time carries on Marriott and Starwood Preferred Guest are slowly altering their loyalty programs to prepare for integration. This morning Marriott announced a few new changes that will affect both Marriott and SPG members.
A Brief Catch-Up
Marriott and Starwood Preferred Guest have been in the process of merging since September 2016 when Marriott announced the purchase of SPG. We were given the ability to link accounts and transfer points between programs (3 Marriott points to 1 SPG Point and vice versa) and elite status match with impressive speed, immediately following the purchase.

Update 10/26/17: This offer is ending next week, on Wednesday, November 1. Looking back historically, there is a decent chance this is the last elevated offer we will see for the SPG Business card if Chase takes over as the card issuer instead of American Express moving forward with the SPG/Marriott merger.

Two Hot Amex Offers To Check Your Account For

American Express is offering a couple lucrative incentives to spend on their cards at the moment.

I Was Automatically Approved for My Latest Credit Card

Yesterday I applied for the Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card. To my delight, I was automatically approved after submitting the application.

The Marriott Rewards Premier Business credit card is issued by Chase, who is known for denying people for the majority of their cards who have opened almost any five credit cards from any bank in the last 24 months. I have opened far more than five credit cards in the last 24 months, but I decided to go for the Marriott Business card anyways as the rule is known not to apply it.
