Yesterday, Citi launched a 50,000 point offer on the Citi Prestige after spending $3,000 in the first three months. The previous offer was 30,000 points after $2,000 in spending.

I had gotten the old offer last week, so I was eager to see if I could be matched to the new, better offer.

My friend just booked a Singapore Airlines award with two stopovers, one destination, and one open jaw. He'll be hopping through the Americas for six weeks for 60,000 miles and $123.

I'm especially keen to highlight this award because:

5x Points Offer Has Expired

The Citi ThankYou® Premier Card is already one of the three cards I carry. I got it for the massive 40,000 ThankYou Point sign up bonus that I can transfer to airlines like Singapore and AirFrance for tricky awards.

A friend passed along an article from Time.com that advocates doing something I've done a few times, but not described:

You can often get a cheaper price on a cash ticket if you book the ticket in foreign currency through airline's website designed for use by people in another country.
