I looked back on my 2014 travels on New Year's Eve, and I want to share my 2015 travel goals today. More importantly, I want to explain how you can turn your 2015 travel goals into reality by taking the first baby steps toward your dream trip today.
My Plan
I have a general idea that I am in the middle of about a nine month trip that will follow summer from South America to Europe.

Right now I am in Chile, trekking Torres del Paine.

2014 was a great year of travel for me, and hopefully for you too.

Last year (2013) was a year of deep and broad travel since I spent almost six months in Argentina and another two months flying through 21 total countries.

December 31, 2014 is the last day to book a free stopover on a roundtrip Delta award. That means it is the last day to book a free one way on a Delta award.

January 1, 2015, stopovers will be eliminated on Delta awards. Free one ways require a stopover at your home airport, which means that free one ways will be eliminated.

Your miles are as valuable as you are creative. For instance, you can combine two luxurious A380 First Classes onto one American Airlines award.
British Airways flies an A380 daily between Los Angeles and London.

I just had the pleasure of delivering presents at midnight in full Papá Noel (Santa Claus) suit to the hostel owners' excited 1-10 year old kids. I should have pictures soon, but I was too busy ho-ho-hoing to snap any.

First Class award space is widely available in Malaysia Airlines First Class on the A380, one of the world's nicest products., and easily bookable with American Airlines miles.

Last year I loved everything about my flight from Paris to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia Airlines First Class on the A380

United.com is convenient to use, but doesn't work very well.

I ran a simple search the other day, and got a different problem with a different solution for the outbound and the return.
The Plan
I was just running a search from Chicago to Sydney roundtrip.

Right now, awards:

booked with United miles
between the United States and Europe
for flights in January, February, and March 2015
on partner airlines
cost only 57,500 miles each way in Business Class

That's the same price that awards booked on United's own flights cost, and 12,500 miles off the normal price for Business Class awards on United partners--70,000 miles each way.
