Updated 6/9/20 with Citi's latest addition to the Prestige Card.

In an attempt to keep you as a customer in a world where travel is severely limited, banks have been changing the benefit profiles of their credit cards that previously rewarded behavior centered primarily around travel.

Those of you most concerned with what to do with your travel cards are likely paying big annual fees for the premium transferrable point cards--the Chase Sapphire Reserve, The Platinum Card from American Express, and the Citi Prestige--so let's compare those changes.

Digital Priority Pass Card: Who Can Get it & How

The Priority Pass membership is a standard perk these days for premium credit cards. It grants you access to Priority Pass' network of lounges (and even some restaurants, where you get a free set tab) located all over the world. Not all Priority Pass lounges are created equal, but thanks to sites like Lounge Buddy you can vet a lounge before travel.

Citi Prestige’s New 75k Bonus + Other Changes

This coming Sunday, July 23, the Citi Prestige Card will lose some benefits and gain some new ones.

This is the current offer, as of today:

Sign Up Bonus: 50,000 ThankYou Points after $4,000 in spending within 3 months of opening card
Category Bonuses: 3x on air travel and hotels, 2x on restaurants and entertainment
Air Travel Credit:  $250 statement credit per calendar year ($500 during first year of cardmembership)
Global Entry: $100 application fee credit
Lounge access: Priority Pass lounges worldwide for you and two guests
Free golf: Three rounds of golf annually booked through Citi

Citi Prestige Changes Kicking in July 23: What To Do Now

On July 23, 2017, the following benefits will change for Citi Prestige cardholders:

Free Golf: no more reservations for your free rounds of golf will be accepted (you had three total to begin with per calendar year).
4th Hotel Night Free: The “4th hotel night free” benefit will be calculated differently.

[100k ENDS TODAY] Chase Sapphire Reserve vs. Citi Prestige vs. Amex Platinum

The sign up bonus that currently comes with the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card when you apply online, 100,000 Ultimate Rewards after spending $4,000 on the card within three months of opening it, will drop to 50,000 Ultimate Rewards for the same spending requirement this coming Thursday, January 12.

I’ve Had My Citi Prestige For Almost a Year. Now What?

About a year ago I excitedly opened a Citi Prestige card, ready for my 50,000 ThankYou point bonus and lounge access, among other things. Since the, the bonus has dropped to 40,000 ThankYou Points, but considering the myriad of other benefits the card maintained, it's still worth getting if you haven't had it yet. 11 months into holding any card that's got an annual fee, I do a cost/benefit analysis to figure out if I'm getting enough value from the card to keep it open.

The Admirals Club lounge benefit will be pulled effective July 23rd, 2017 (roughly a year from now). This is one of many changes happening with the Citi Prestige® Card right now.
