Membership Rewards to Avios Transfer Rate Improves to 1:1
July 14, 2017
We've got good news for you to begin your Friday with today! American Express Membership Rewards now transfer to British Airways and Iberia Avios at an improved rate of 250:250.
Previously, the transfer rate was 250 Memberships to 200 Avios (1:0.8). Personally I'm quite excited about the change in ratio. I love distance-based Avios for booking short hops that otherwise wouldn't make sense to redeem miles for, but also for sweetspots like Iberia Business Class between Brazil and Spain that I flew at the end of May for just 42,500 points.

Miles With Free (or Almost Free) Change & Cancellation Fees
December 29, 2016
There are lots of obvious reasons why miles are better than cash, like the ability they give us to book mini palaces on planes that look like this...
Etihad First Class Apartment on an A380...or the loose routing/stopover/open jaw rules of some programs that allow us to see more places on one trip.
But what about the smaller perks we often overlook? Like free or nearly free change and cancellation fees?

Nothing cries out for a BIG trip idea like a few weeks with nowhere to be.

Let’s talk about how to use American Airlines miles for awards to Europe. This is not the best use of American Airlines miles because award space isn't great, and American collects fuel surcharges on two partners to Europe.

How to Search BA.com to Book British Airways and American Airlines Awards Like a Pro
January 26, 2016
One of the main reasons why people who don't know how miles work think that miles are a scam is because they searched award space in the wrong place! For instance, they wanted to use American Airlines miles and searched AA.com. While that sounds logical, that's often the wrong place to search. BA.com is often the better place to search.
Knowing how to use BA.com is crucial for making award bookings with British Airways Avios and American Airlines AAdvantage miles.

British Airways First Class Space on New 787-9 Dreamliner from USA to Europe
January 4, 2016
According to Airline Route, British Airways has begun operating its 787-9 Dreamliner on three routes from London-Heathrow:
Delhi
Abu Dhabi/Muscat
Kuala Lumpur
In 2016, it adds a ton of 787-9 destinations including several in the United States:
Austin from February 1
Newark from April 2
Philadelphia from April 9
San Jose from May 4
Houston from August 1
Boston from October 1
The British Airways 787-9 Dreamliner is exciting both because it is a brand new plane and because British Airways features First Class on the plane, which the British Airways 787-8 doesn't have.
These flights have fuel surcharges, but

Membership Rewards Transfers to Avios Take 20% Hit On Thursday October 1
September 26, 2015
Effective this Thursday, October 1, 2015, 250 Membership Rewards will transfer to 200 British Airways or Iberia Avios. That's a 20% reduction of the current 1,000 Membership Rewards to 1,000 Avios transfers.
Source: Travel with GrantThis is a huge blow to Membership Rewards. It still has great 1:1 transfer partners like Delta, ANA, Aeroplan, and Singapore, but this majorly hurts the value of its best oneworld transfer partner.
In the past we've seen transfer bonuses from Membership Rewards to Avios like this year's 40% bonus.
