Comparison Table of United, US Airways, Delta, and American Airlines Award Charts

United and Delta have devalued their charts in the last few months, but American and US Airways, which close their merger tomorrow, have not devalued theirs recently.

I have made my own tables comparing the economy, business, and first class award prices on each of the big four US-based airlines' worst announced award chart.

For United, that is the chart for awards BOOKED February 1, 2014 and later. For Delta, that is the chart for awards FLOWN June 1, 2014 or later.

BREAKING: US Airways No Longer Blocking Lufthansa Award Space

Very interesting comments. I think there's been an easing and more Lufthansa space is bookable with US Airways miles, but certainly not all as the original article and post title suggest.

US Airways is no longer blocking Lufthansa award space as far as I can tell.

Yes, The American Airlines/US Airways Merger Will Happen–Your Best Play

According to Bloomberg, AA/US have reached a deal with the Department of Justice, so that the latter will stop objecting to the merger.

I've long maintained that I expected the merger to happen.

United Announces Off Peak Awards to Europe for 48,000 Miles Roundtrip (20% Off)

United has announced a 20% discount on economy class awards from the US to Europe:

Roundtrip awards booked between now an November 19, 2013
for flights flown between January 13 and March 11, 2014
on itineraries wholly operated by United and United Express flights
will cost only 48k miles roundtrip, a 20% discount on the normal 60k price.

United ran a nearly identical promotion last year, so maybe this is becoming a yearly occurrence.

I know many of us are trying to burn United miles because of its recent devaluation, so this promotion might be a good way to see

100% Buy or Gift Miles Promotion on US Airways =1.88 Cent Dividend Miles

This week I got an email from US Airways offering "An exclusive offer just for [me]:"

The offer was a targeted offer to buy up to 50,000 US Airways miles and get a 100% bonus in miles. That means I can obtain 100,000 US Airways miles for $1,881 or 1.88 cents each.

Thanks to readers Barry, O.H., Trevor, and Ying for forwarding me their 100% bonus offers too. Please forward me any exciting new deals you're offered!

This deal is very common.

Anatomy of an Award: Southeast Asian and Mexican Vacations in Business Class for 90k US Airways Miles, 30k Arrival Miles, and Zero Cash

Two weeks ago, in How to Save 70,000 Miles on US Airways Awards to Southeast Asia, Bill blew people's minds with his post about one of the biggest tricks you can pull with US Airways miles:

When routing from the US to South & Central Asia, you can save up to 70,000 US Airways miles by adding segments from Mexico, Central America, or the Caribbean to your home airport before the main award.

The four step process is not difficult, but it is new, so there was some confusion in the comments section of that post.

Anatomy of an Award: Booking Lufthansa Flights with US Airways Miles

US Airways has announced its plans to leave the Star Alliance for the oneworld alliance and later merge wither American Airlines.

But for the time being US Airways is in the Star Alliance and its miles can be used on its own flights or its Star Alliance partners.

At least in theory.

In practice, for the past few months US Airways agents have not been able to see award space on Lufthansa, the Star Alliance airline that releases the most space between the US and Europe.

You could find award space on united.com, call US Airways, and the agent would

United Has Better Access to Air Canada Award Space?

While booking a family of four to Australia through our popular Award Booking Service, I ran into a  vexing problem with Star Alliance award space.

On a certain Air Canada route, Air Canada's own Aeroplan members  had access to more award seats than its Star Alliance partners. That's not a surprising practice on the surface. Air New Zealand never releases transpacific space to Star Alliance partners.
