How to Qualify or Re-Qualify for Delta Status by December 31

Each day we edge closer to the end of the year, which is significant if earning elite status is on your radar. You've got just under two months to meet elite qualifying requirements if you want status in 2017.

And the American Express Delta credit cards have limited time, enhanced sign up offers that end day after tomorrow--November 9.

Ink Plus Disappearing, So Get It Now or Lose 60,000 Points

Chase will launch a new business card, the Ink Business Preferred Card, some time in 2016 and stop accepting new applications for the Ink Plus Business Card at the same time. Here's a side-by-side look at the two offers:

Obviously when the Ink Business Preferred is released, I'll write about it, break down its offer further, and rank it among the very best credit card offers.

Delta Adds Transcontinental Route With Fully Flat Bed

On April 24, 2017, Delta will begin service between Washington D.C. (DCA) and Los Angeles (LAX) on a Delta One-configured 757-200. You can book Domestic First Class flying Delta One between the two cities with fully flat beds for 25,000 Delta miles.

Combine Alaska Awards on Hainan & Two Hilton Card Offers For (Almost Free) Trip to Asia

Hainan Airlines partnered with Alaska Airlines earlier this year, and their flights are now bookable on alaskaair.com. Their award chart is dirt cheap.

That's right, 50,000 miles one way in a flat bed for over 13 hours, with connections all over Asia. The only other deal that can compare is using Alaska miles to book Cathay Pacific flights for the same amount of miles and a little less out of pocket expenses (Hainan charges mild fuel surcharges-- about $140 per one way).

This is the third post in a series about how I used Singapore miles to book United BusinessFirst between San Francisco and Buenos Aires, as well as a review of the product and travel experience.

The Least Notice Delta Devaluation To Date: Award Price to India Increases

Delta has devalued its miles with no notice (again), but this time is even worse than prior instances. While Delta's never announced an award price change, they at least have increased the prices for travel a few months in advance. For example, at the end of this past August, Delta increased the price of a Business Class award to Europe from 62,500 miles to 70,000 miles for travel beginning January 1, 2017 and on.

This time, there's no buffer period whatsoever.

Hilton Points & Money Awards

Hilton offers the chance to combine points and money to book hotel rooms, which can be a way to stretch both your points and money further. But are these Points and Money awards a better value than free night awards?

I'm digging deep into the Hilton program because right now, not only is the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card offering 75,000 bonus Hilton points after spending $2,000 in three months, but the Hilton HHonors Surpass Credit Card from American Express is also offering 100,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 in three months.
