First United Silver Experience
September 18, 2012
About six months ago, I earned United Silver Status, my first ever airline status. And two months ago, the status finally showed up in my account. (Why the delay? See: "A Quixotic Quest to United Silver Status")
My first United flight since earning the status was Labor Day, September 3. I had booked a oneway economy award on United's direct Pittsburgh to LAX flight for 12,500 miles.
I was happy to get the only direct flight for 12,500 miles when it was selling for $600.
New Page: Best Current Credit Card Offers
September 17, 2012
These offers have expired. Click here for the top current credit card sign up bonuses.
I've added a new page--Best Current Credit Card Offers--which should always be clickable at the top of the page. So far, I've just put the top ten in terms of absolute value.
I should be adding more cards, and a list of the top cards by rebate percentage this week.

1) Yesterday's incredible JetBlue deal ends today at 11:59 PM ET. Anyone can get $100 off on a roundtrip fare and enjoy the best economy class in the US. I got a roundtrip from Burbank to Vegas for $25.
2) A reader passed along an email he got from TACA LifeMiles--and I got the same--saying that any activity in his LifeMiles account would result in a 500 mile bonus.
Today and Tomorrow Only: Roundtrip on JetBlue for $14
September 13, 2012
JetBlue is running a two-day promo that ends tomorrow. They emailed their TrueBlue members a mystery code worth $20 to $300 off the purchase of a flight taken between September 14 and November 7.
The code is good for oneways and roundtrips. JetBlue ran a similar promotion on April 30, and this time I was ready! I just scored a roundtrip ticket from Burbank to Las Vegas for $25.
Check your email for a code--check your spam folder too--and head to jetblue.com/promo to figure out its worth.
If you didn't get one, keep reading.
Flat Beds from New York to Hawaii
September 13, 2012
United operates some flights on its San Francisco to Honolulu route with an internationally configured 777-200 with fully flat beds in first class but not business.
If you live in New York City (or are willing to connect there), that flight can be hooked up with an SFO-JFK P.S. service to get fully flat beds all the way to and from Hawaii.
This three-cabin first option costs 50k each direction.

Should You Get the 75k AMEX Biz Gold or the 50k AMEX Biz Gold?
September 12, 2012
Today (9/12/12) only, American Express is doing one of its once-every-few-months, one-day-only 75k Membership Rewards sign up bonuses for the American Express Gold Business card.
I won't give a full rundown of the rules and benefits of the card--you can get that from thepointsguy--but I will answer the following question: should you get the 75k sign up bonus on this card or the 50k sign up bonus?
If the answer seems obvious, it is not.
