A Review of the Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Cap Cana

My husband and I recently spent eight nights at Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic. In short, the hotel is situated on a beautiful white sand beach, its architecture and the landscaping are simply stunning and its staff are almost all uniformly welcoming and are extremely good at showing hospitality.

The food was hit or miss and, overall, not stellar but solid, and that’s my only criticism of the resort.

Updates to the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve® Bonuses

Chase hasn't given us anything to get terribly excited about since the introduction of the Chase Freedom Flex℠ and updates to the Chase Freedom Unlimited® a few months ago, but today Chase has decided to shake things up again.

Chase's most popular card, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, offers 60,000 Ultimate Rewards Points after $4,000 spend in 3 months.

Previously only available via on-again off-again targeted offers, this welcome bonus is worth up to $750 if redeemed via the Chase Travel Portal.

Incredible 50,000 Membership Rewards Points Welcome Bonus

The Blue Business Plus card from American Express is an old favorite of ours. And shortly after coming out with a great welcome offer on the American Express ® Business Gold Card, American Express decided to surprise us again and came up with another incredible offer.

And don't forget, more people are often eligible for business cards than realize it.

Rewards Earning Strategy for Domestic Economy Travelers

If your travel goals include mostly domestic travel, and you are traveling as a family and need to book multiple seats, then your travel rewards earning strategy is likely very different from someone who’s looking for aspirational redemptions in first or business class.

Let’s look at a few ways of maximizing your points redemptions and dive into the credit card strategy for domestic travelers. We’ll look at using transferable currencies, such as Chase Ultimate Rewards or Citi ThankYou points because they offer much better flexibility and many more redemption options than airline miles.

Anatomy of an Award: My First Trip To Florida’s Gulf Coast

I must admit, I’ve been to many countries throughout the world, but I’ve only been to Florida once in my life. So between the latest COVID-related travel restrictions that include testing before you can fly back to the U.S., and my need to escape the cold grey Midwest winter, I’ve decided that now is a good time to explore South Florida’s Gulf Coast. I was attracted by the wide, white sand beaches, mild February temperatures and opportunity to book some  very attractive properties with points.

The Hidden Value in Hotel Credit Cards: Annual Free Nights

We all love credit cards that earn transferable currencies such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or the American Express® Gold Card.

But what about the co-branded airline or hotel credit cards - do they come with valuable incentives to keep the card in your wallet? Do the benefits justify their annual fees?

Hotels’ co-branded credit cards often come with good perks, such as elite status, extra points earning opportunities and free night certificates. And sometimes you can spend your way to a free night.
