What’s in My Wallet

Welcome to What’s in My Wallet article series! I’ll go first and start by sharing with you which credit cards I use regularly, which cards I keep just for the perks and benefits and which cards are on the chopping block.

How to Use the Shopping Portals to Earn Tons of Points and Miles

Have you started your holiday shopping yet? Or are you just gearing up for the busy holiday season? In any case, read this before you buy anything else and you’ll see your points and miles balances grow thanks to the things you were going to buy anyway.

It always surprises me how many people haven’t heard about the shopping portals or don’t maximize all the opportunities available today. So I am on a mission to stop people from leaving money, or points and miles, on the table.

How to Get Approved for Business Cards

You might be wondering why do you need business credit cards? Or maybe you think you can’t qualify for one because you don’t own what most people would perceive as business? There are a lot of misconceptions about what qualifies as a business, who is eligible and how to apply for these cards.

However, business cards often come with some of the most attractive welcome offers and have the most generous earning structure. They can prove to be extremely rewarding for anyone who is willing to learn and understand the rules.

How to Earn Bonus Points with Chase Right Now

2020 has been quite a year! Most of us haven’t been able to travel much, but we sure have had a lot of great points and miles earning opportunities. There were increased welcome bonuses and improved bonus categories and last week we wrote about the great American Express 3X referral offer.

Earn An Additional 3X with the American Express Referral Offer

This has been a very strange year for miles and points. We didn’t get a chance to travel and spend a lot of points but we sure did get quite a few great earning opportunities. We saw high-value increased offers, such as the five free nights up to 50,000 points each with the Chase Marriott Boundless card, 80,000 Ultimate Rewards welcome bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and the overhaul and update of the Chase Freedom cards line up.

Never to be outdone, American Express also keeps surprising us.

How to Book Hyatt Stays With Points

Hyatt Hotels is a favorite hotel chain among many frequent travelers and points aficionados. World of Hyatt points are easy to earn, the redemption rates are very reasonable and Hyatt’s program is fairly straightforward and easy to use.

Let’s look at when and how to transfer Hyatt points, when it makes sense and when it doesn’t and how to book award stays at Hyatt hotels.

You’ll see that depending on the cash rates it doesn’t always make sense to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to the World of Hyatt.

5 Free Nights with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card

Well, Chase surprised us again! And it was a good surprise too! First they came out with an overhaul of the Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Unlimited cards and the addition of a brand new card, Chase Freedom Flex. Then Chase increased the welcome bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card to 80,000 points.

And finally (or maybe not finally, and more good changes are in the works), Chase changed the welcome bonus on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card.

I’ll share my experience with booking flights, what it’s like to fly and stay at hotels during the pandemic and my overall impressions of the precautions taken by hotels, airlines and tourist attractions.
