Today Daily Getaways deal is to buy Wyndham Rewards points in quantities of 14k, 32k, 40k, 60k, and 75k points for 0.54 cents each.

Daily Getaways is a yearly monthlong sale of travel packages put on by American Express and the U.S. Travel Association.

This year's Daily Getaways will run from May 19 to June 20, 2014, and the first two weeks of sale items have been announced.

Typical sale items include hotel points, hotel stays, and discounted gift cards.

Every weekday, a new item or items are put on sale at 1 PM ET.

Daily Getaways was a monthlong sale that lasted from mid-June to mid-July. Every day different travel packages went on sale, including the ability to buy hotel points, car rental status, gift certificates, hotel nights, and vacation packages.

I was selective, buying packages only four days.

Miles and points aren't all about traveling in first class for pennies, although that's the most aspirational aspect of the game, and the most fun to write about. In the last few weeks, I've used hotel points for massive savings on adequate rooms in convenient locations in expensive cities.

Through just a little bit of planning, I've spent about $255 total for my last six nights of hotels or $42 per night.

Update at 1:02 PM ET: I had two computers and a smartphone ready on three different-sized packages (69k, 36k, and 24k), but all got the "on hold for other customers" message within seconds of 1 PM. This is the first deal I failed to get in on.
