The Southwest Companion Pass is a free ride for your companion of choice (with the exception of around $5.60 in taxes one way). Normally you get to keep a Companion Pass for the calendar year you earn it as well as the following, but that’s because normally it’s harder to earn. The two primary ways to earn the standard two-year Southwest Companion Pass:
- fly 100 paid segments
- open one business the Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Business Credit Card, which comes with 60,000 Rapid Rewards for spending $3,000 on the card within three months of account opening, and pair that with the bonus on a consumer card. Then spend your way to reach 110k qualifying Rapid Reward points (or earn them one of the other ways listed in this post)

Bottom Line
The Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus, Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier, and Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card offers just got so much sweeter. Apply before 2/11/19 for any of these cards and spend $4,000 within three months on it and you’ll earn yourself a Companion Pass for the rest of this year (not to mention 30,000 Rapid Rewards).
That means your Companion of choice, which you should be able to change up to three times, flies for free except for a few dollars in taxes. Depending on how much you fly Southwest, this could be worth thousands of dollars.
