Updates To The Business Platinum Card® by American Express

American Express announced some changes to The Business Platinum Card® from American Express that are favorable to most everyone, but businesses that can fully utilize the benefits will get the biggest bang for their buck.

Let’s take a look at the updates and how they impact the value of the Business Platinum Card.

Updated Earnings Rate

The first big change on the Business Platinum Card is the updated earnings rates.

An Overview of American Express’ Fine Hotels and Resorts (FHR)

If you have The Platinum Card® from American Express (Rates & Fees) or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express (Rates & Fees), you’ve probably poked around the benefits page and came across the Fine Hotels + Resorts program. 

The FHR program provides elite-like benefits at select properties for hotels booked through the program. In order to get all the benefits, you do need to book through the FHR program and not directly with the property.

Locking in the Business Platinum at $450 for 2019 (+ beginning of 2020)

The Business Platinum from American Express' benefits package will undergo some large changes come February of 2019, at the expense of an increased annual fee that will jump from $450 a year to $595 a year. For the extra $145, cardholders will get:

A year of complimentary Platinum Global Access at WeWork, a large co-working space chain with locations all over the world. Amex states that the value of this membership is $2,700.

100k Sign Up Bonus for Business Platinum Ends Tomorrow

Reminder: The 100k sign-up bonus offer for the Amex Business Platinum ends tomorrow. 

Through August 8, 2018, the American Express Business Platinum Card is offering 100,000 total bonus Membership Rewards after spending $25,000 in the first three months:

Reminder: May 31 is the last day to apply for the Business Platinum Card to be grandfathered in to the 50% rebate benefit (when Paying with Points for all premium cabin fights and for your chosen airline in economy) with no cap for one more year.
