Right now you can book a roundtrip in economy between New York (JFK) and Oslo or Stockholm for $195 for travel January through March, 2017. That is nuts.

There are also $250 roundtrip economy fares available between Las Vegas and Oslo during the same travel period of January through March.

Norwegian is the low cost carrier that we’ve featured a few times recently for roundtrips to Stockholm, Oslo, and Madrid in the $250-$400 range. You can also sometimes find dirt cheap roundtrips to the French Caribbean. Now they’re back at it with the lowest economy fare to Europe I’ve seen.

Pay In Krone, It’s Cheaper

Start on the Norwegian version of Norwegian.com/no because prices are lower in Norwegian Krone than US Dollars. Use Google Chrome to translate the page to English. Pay with a card with no foreign transaction fees.

For example:

Cheap Fares

Search and book on Norwegian.com/no with their low fare calendar: screen-shot-2016-12-26-at-8-20-58-pmThe $195 roundtrip fare is available between New York City (JFK) and Oslo as well as Stockholm. $250 roundtrip fares are also available between Las Vegas and Oslo/Stockholm. You’ll find all the cheap fares on travel dates spanning January through March, 2017.

Sample Dates for One Traveler

Below are some sample dates for each of the city pairs available with cheap roundtrip fares. For trips originating in New York City, picking an outbound and inbound that each cost around 850 Krone, your total roundtrip price in USD will be about $195.

New York to Oslo, February 5 – 12

New York to Stockholm, February 3 – 11

For trips originating in Las Vegas, picking an outbound and inbound that each cost around 1056 to 1099 Krone, your total roundtrip price in USD will be about $250.

Extra Fees

All the cheapest fares are in the “Lowfare” bucket. That comes with one free carry on that weighs up to 10 kg (22 lbs.) Check out Scott’s post on one bag travel.

Everything else costs extra.

Your first checked bag is $45 each way. Your second is $50. Similarly a seat reservation is $45 each way.

The eat on board menu is limited, but you can preorder from a bigger selection.

All the add ons are expensive, so I suggest traveling with just one carry on, eating before take off on the outbound, packing a lunch for the return, and taking whatever seat they give you for free. Then you REALLY can’t beat a $200 roundtrip to Norway or Sweden.

Why Norway in Winter
