Register here for Marriott’s latest Megabonus promotion by November 30 to earn a free night at any Category 1 through 5 Marriott after completing two paid stays between tomorrow (September 12) and January 15, 2018.
How Marriott is Defining a Stay
For the purpose of the Megabonus promotion, a qualifying stay is consecutive nights at the same hotel. Your two qualifying stays could be at the same hotel, but there would need to be at least one night with no reservation between the bookings.
Other Pertinent Conditions
- Certificate for free Category 1 – 5 night should post three to five days after your second stay
- Free night certificate lasts six months, after which it expires. It is not transferrable.
- Free night certificate is good for one standard room (single or double occupancy) and covers cost of the hotel room + room taxes
- Ritz-Carlton stays count as qualifying stays, but ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments stays do not
- “Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this promotion”
Mysterious Clause in Terms & Conditions
“If a member completes two qualifying stays during the promotional period, an additional offer may be unlocked and become available in the members account within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay….The member may not receive additional notification except through their online member account and must register for the additional offer within two (2) weeks from the date the additional offer becomes available.”
Who knows what this means. If someone completes two stays, check your Marriott account and let us know in the comments what this secret offer only unlocked for MegaBonus participants is.

So what kind of stays qualify? Does a reward night count? Does a stay with a senior or government rate count?
Reward nights do not count, they must be paid stays. I assume a stay with a senior or government rate would count, but am not 100% sure. I’d call and ask Marriott if you want to be certain. You can read the terms and conditions of the promotion here (click Terms and conditions on the right hand side of screen)…I don’t see anything about discounted rates in there though.
A Note About This Promotion
We’re sorry, but there was an error in directing you to this promotion.
The reason for this error could be:
You’re trying to access a miles promotion and are a points-earner, or vice versa
You are not eligible for this promotion
This promotion has expired
Not sure why the above occurred. I have Marriott status as well as a pile of points in the program.
I have read in the comments of other blogs that some people are receiving the same error message. Try a couple more times and if it still doesn’t work you can call Marriott and they can sort it out for you. You could also try registering in an incognito/private window, switching browsers, or switching from mobile to computer or vice versa if you really hate calling.
Should this not be “buy four get one free”? If a “stay” is defined as “consecutive” nights in the same hotel…. then that means we need at least 2 nights to qualify as a “stay” (one night cannot be a “consecutive” night)….. Since 2 “stays” are required for this promotion, then that means we need, at least, 4 nights. Am I understanding this correctly?
I am about 95% sure that one qualifying stay can be one night, but just to be 100% I’ll call Marriott and let you know.
