———————————————————————————-

This week I’ve had several posts about the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard because its current 50,000 mile sign up bonus ends today June 30.

The exact second when the offer dies is unknown. If you click the link and see the landing page, the offer should still be active. Take a screen shot to be safer.

It’s unknown what sign up bonus we’ll see tomorrow, but the previous sign up bonus was only 20,000 miles.

The current offer is:

  • Earn 50,000 award miles total
  • Earn 20,000 award miles after your first purchase
  • Earn an additional 30,000 award miles when you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 90 days
  • Cardholders receive a companion ticket annually
  • Enjoy 2 award miles per $1 on Miles & More integrated airline ticket purchases
  • Earn 1 award mile per $1 spent everywhere else
  • No mileage expiration with monthly qualifying purchases
  • 0% Intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months after account opening, after that a variable APR currently 15.99% to 24.99% depending upon your creditworthiness
  • Please see terms and conditions for complete details

The 55k Lufthansa miles you’d have after meeting the minimum spending requirement are enough for some incredible awards including roundtrip to Europe in flat-bed business class on a Mileage Bargain award or two roundtrips within the USA among many other award possibilities.

The sign up bonus is enough for a roundtrip in fully flat beds in LOT business class.

I recently used my 55k Lufthansa miles from my opening the card last month to book two awards:

  • One way from Honolulu to Newark in United First Class on a fully flat bed for 35k miles and $2.50. United would have charged 40k miles for the award. And this trip is longer in a flat bed–nearly 10 hours–than the east coast to Europe, which costs more miles, so this award definitely takes advantage of a sweet spot.
  • One way from Las Vegas to Honolulu (via Los Angeles) in United economy class for 20k miles and $5. United would have charged 20k miles, and cash tickets were over $400 on the day I want, so I am saving a lot of United miles or cash with this award.

Overall I’m getting easily more than $1,000 worth of free travel from the card, which I don’t think is too tough if you redeem the miles well.
