We’re sad to announce that the previous high bonus on the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is no longer available.

But not all endings are bad, and in this case it gets even better. The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card now has an even higher bonus. Now you can earn 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you spend $4,000 in the first three months when you open a new Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.

Let’s take a look at this even higher bonus and a few things you should know about the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and the Chase ecosystem.

Who Should Apply For The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card?

The Chase Sapphire Preferred Card is truly one of the best credit cards for just about anyone in points and miles. That’s why it is consistently near the top of our best credit cards month after month. Often, it sits at the number one spot.

That’s because the Chase Sapphire Preferred is one of, if not the best card for beginners. Even experienced people in the points and miles world keep coming back to the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Whether you’re new to points and miles, or you’ve been around for awhile, as long as you’re eligible to open a new Chase Sapphire card, you should be jumping on this opportunity.

Restrictions For New Applicants

There are a few restrictions on Chase cards, and Chase Sapphire cards specifically, that you should be aware of before applying for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.

For starters, all Chase products are limited by the Chase 5/24 rule. This means if you’ve opened more than five cards in the past 24 months that report on your personal credit report, Chase will not approve you for a new card.

Additionally, Chase has special restrictions on their Sapphire line of cards. You’re only eligible for the new card bonus if you haven’t earned one in the past 48 months.

Furthermore (as if there wasn’t already enough), you can only have one Sapphire branded card open at a time. So if you currently have a Chase Sapphire Reserve you won’t be able to open a Chase Sapphire Preferred Card.

Why 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points Are Great

If you’re looking for a reason to open a new Chase Sapphire Preferred card, just take a look at a few examples of how you can use Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

  • Stay four to five nights at a Hyatt Ziva or Zilara all inclusive
  • Fly round-trip in business class to Europe
  • Book ANA first class to Asia
  • Stay 3 nights at the Le Meridien Maldives (and just a few points shy of 5 nights)

There’s a ton of value to be found with Chase Ultimate Rewards, and the ability to earn so many with the Chase Sapphire Preferred will go a long way.
