This offer is now dead. The link below had a 100,000 Membership Reward sign-up bonus offer live for less than 24 hours. If you didn’t get it this time, next time don’t hesitate.
There is a publicly available offer for 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards after spending $3,000 on the American Express Platinum at this link. I value those points at about $2,000. Jump on this offer now because it will not last.
A few months ago I was approved for a similar offer before it was pulled offline in less than two days.
The card’s $450 annual fee doesn’t bother me. I will get $200 in airline gift cards this year, $200 in airline gift cards in early 2016, and lounge access to Delta SkyClubs and American Express Centurion lounges for a year for that price. Plus the 100,000 bonus Membership Rewards are worth about $2,000 to me because I will transfer them to partners for one or several high value awards.
See Get the Most out of Your American Express Platinum Card for a rundown of the benefits.
Eligibility
If you have ever had an American Express Platinum personal card, you are ineligible to get the bonus again. The American Express Platinum Mercedes-Benz personal card and American Express Business card are considered separate products.

Instant approval!
I had Ameriprise version of Platinum that I got last year and cancelled it just last week before the annual fee was due. So, can I apply for this personal version and get 100K bonus points?
Seriously? Read the post man
Come on man, give him a break. He had the Ameriprise version and Scott didn’t mention that particular version so he just wants to make sure. I’d ask too!
Yes, those are different products.

Can I be approved of this card when I have the Ameriprise version now? If not, do you suggest cancelling the Ameriprise one so that I can get this one?
The Amex terms says gift card purchases aren’t considered incidental charges. Were you credited for your gift card purchases?
Please read the linked post for more information.
Got it on instant approval! And I previously had the Ameriprise version. Thank you!!!
What is it about the points that makes you value them at $0.02? The international first-class sort of transfer to Ethiad? I was looking at doing this but it seems hard for me to get more than $1000 of value out of it, which I guess is still pretty good 🙂 (but it would probably be in the form of gift cards, plus enough delta miles to top off my account there)
Delta miles are worth a minimum of 1 cent each to use like cash toward flight bookings and can be worth way more than 1 cent each when booking partner awards. Partners like Singapore, Aeroplan, and ANA offer even more value. Then there are transfer bonuses to Etihad, Virgin Atlantic, etc. You can do way better than 1 cent each. And I think you can get 2 cents each.
The offer appears to be gone.
Bah.. was up when I made my previous post an hour before
Oh man, looks like I made the cut just in time. Was going to wait a week or two but went ahead and pulled the trigger and applied late last night. Luckily, got the instant approval. Was concerned that AmEx might not honor the 100K offer but just spoke with CSR via Chat and it was confirmed that my account does show that the 100K offer went through.
Thanks!
As of 2:07 Eastern Standard time the offer is DEAD!!! That was fast
