Update, 11:35 pm ET, 10/15: The Flying Blue Promo Awards Special Edition deals are now live!

Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France and KLM, looks like they’ve got some great deals coming via their new Promo Awards Special Edition sale. While not officially published yet, their website leads one to believe that by tomorrow you’ll be able to book a variety of cabins between North America to Europe on deep discount:

    • Premium economy: 28,000 miles one way
  • From/to New York:
    • Economy: 11,000 miles one way
  • From/to Seattle:
    • Premium economy: 29,000 miles one way
    • Business Class: 36,000 one way
  • From/toMexico City:
    • Premium economy: 29,000 miles one way
    • Business Class: 36,000 one way

    • Economy: 11,000 miles one way
    • Premium economy: 25,000 miles one way

Booking & Travel Windows

The top of the page says these offers are available if you between October 16 (Wednesday) and October 20 (Sunday) and fly between November ‘19 and March ‘20. This travel period spans Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break! And if these routes are on sale, that’s because there’s a lot of unsold seats.

What the Promo Awards Special Edition Site Looks like Now

Underneath there are various discounted awards to different regions of the worlds listed, but with text hovering over a lightened background that makes it clear the sale isn’t available yet. Keep checking periodically as I expect them to become available soon! And once it is available, book FAST as I don’t expect the award space to linger.

Promo Awards Special Edition is much like the monthly Promo Award sale Flying Blue has been running for years, except that the window to book is much shorter. The reward for paying attention and moving quick? Even deeper discounted awards.

Check for Connecting Itineraries Beyond Paris and Amsterdam

Air France’s hub is Paris and KLM’s hub is Amsterdam. But according to View from the Wing, “Often connecting itineraries beyond Paris/Amsterdam can be even cheaper than what’s advertised.” So don’t forget to check!

How to Earn Flying Blue Points

Flying Blue is a transfer partner of ALL four major point currencies: Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Capital One Miles, so it’s really easy to earn Flying Blue points via one of these programs. Check out our Top 10 lists, for consumer cards and business cards, to see which are offering the most lucrative bonuses right now. #1 on the consumer card list is the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, and #1 on the business card list is the Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card with its monster bonus points.

Unfortunately there aren’t any transfer bonuses available to Flying Blue at the moment, but they are offered commonly and periodically by Membership Rewards and ThankYou Points.

Bottom Line

Keep checking here to see when Flying Blue’s Promo Awards Special Edition sale starts. As the booking window is published as starting tomorrow, the sale will likely start at some point tomorrow. Keep checking if you want to snag Business Class seats to or from Toronto for 32,000 points, or to or from Mexico City and Seattle for 36,000 points. Economy for only 11,000 points is a steal as well.

Remember that Flying Blue does impose fuel surcharges, but with these award prices I’d say they are worth paying.
