Lucky has the details. I don’t have much to add.
This is the best credit card offer out there by far. I assume it will be available only briefly, so consider getting it now.
The $450 annual fee should not deter you. You can get $200 in airline gift certificates for free today. And you can get $200 more next January before you pay the next annual fee.
Here’s a definitive list Bill made of the airline gift certificates that are reimbursed under this benefit.
If you don’t yet have Global Entry, the $100 fee is reimbursed. This benefit will save you countless hours over the life of your passport when entering the country. I know it has for me. See Why and How I Got Global Entry.
That’s $500 in value right there that cancels out the annual fee.
Don’t know how to use 100k Membership Rewards? Tahsir had an incredible series on the topic that I’ll be editing, updating, and posting shortly.
Just getting started in the world of points and miles? The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the best card for you to start with.

Dear Scott,
THanks for posting this. Just got approved
I applied and got insta approved for the AMEX platinum. I am a little skeptical because I was approved even though I have a security lock on with my credit reporting service.
Got an error when applying that said something to the effect of their systems being overloaded. But got an approval in email about 15 minutes later. Thank you!
My understanding with their T&C on the the churn is that if you were approved for the card in the last 12 months, not specifically HELD the card. For example I just cancelled my old AMEX Plat in November, but I was approved a year before that. Can I get the bonus?
Cleared cookies, switched to Firefox…Instant approval.
Chase, you were approved, what’s there to be skeptical about? If you’re just curious, Amex is known for using their own in house credit scoring algorithm more than Experian.
Question about the Priority Pass club membership. It says under footnote 8:
The Platinum member’s spouse and children under the age of 21 or up to two companions may enter the club as complimentary guests.
Then it says under footnote 9:
Member is liable for all accompanying guest visits and will be automatically charged $27 per guest after it has been reported by the participating lounge.
So I’m confused, can I take my spouse along or not? I applied for the Platinum 100k and was instantly approved. For the wife I went with the Gold 50k offer b/c I just didn’t feel like purchasing 800$ worth of gift cards to absorb the annual fee – although now I may be regretting it a little.
You get the spouse and kids. Other guests cost is my understanding.
The Platinum card gets you into Delta lounges while flying Delta, American lounges while flying American, or any US Airways lounge. You can bring in guests for free with you.
The Priority Pass card is a separate membership that you receive that you can use for independent international lounges as well as domestic Alaska Airlines lounges. You can only get access for yourself, and have to pay $27 for each guest.
Got approved today but i think the link is dead! Looking forward though to reading the guide for tips on how to use 100k Membership Reward
